Tags are the code symbols used to tell the page what you want there. Example below:

You must CLOSE your tags whenever you start them. That would mean if you have center in the beginning, when you don't want to center something, you need to close it at the end. This goes with any HTML code. Example is below for center.

It's best to space your codes out throughout your page, instead of one lump html mess. This will make it easier to read for you, and easier to find out where you made your mistake. Throughout this entire tutorial, there is spacing in my HTML codes.
